Most of the roads around NW1 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in NW1 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller NW1 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and NW1 flat moving.
A Little Bit About NW1
The NW postcode district was originally created as part of the London Postal District in 1856. The postal district of NW1 covers Marylebone, Euston, Regent’s Park, Baker Street, Camden Town, Somers Town and Primrose Hill. The local authorities covering these areas are Camden and Westminster.
Camden is well known for its markets: these date from the 1970s or later, except for Inverness Street market, for over a century a small food market serving the local community, though by 2013 all foodstuff and produce stalls had gone, leaving only touristy stalls. Camden Lock market proper started in a former timber-yard in 1973, and is now surrounded by five more markets: Buck Street market, Stables market, Camden Lock village, and an indoor market in the Electric Ballroom. The markets are a major tourist attraction at weekends, selling goods of all types including fashion, lifestyle, books, food, junk/antiques and more bizarre items; they and the surrounding shops are popular with young people, in particular those searching for “alternative” clothing.
Euston was the first inter-city railway station in London. The original station was built by William Cubitt. It was designed by the classically trained architect Philip Hardwick with a 200 ft long trainshed by structural engineer Charles Fox. Initially it had only two platforms, one for departures and one for arrivals. Also designed by Hardwick was a 72 ft (22 m)-high Doric propylaeum, the largest ever built, erected at the entrance as a portico and which became known as the Euston Arch.
The 166 hectares (410 acres) of Regent’s Park is mainly open parkland which enjoys a wide range of facilities and amenities including gardens, a lake with a heronry, waterfowl and a boating area, sports pitches, and children’s playgrounds. The northern side of the park is the home of London Zoo and the headquarters of the Zoological Society of London. Regents Park is arguably one of the most interesting parks in London, and has some of the finest public gardens with flowers and specimen plants, including Queen Mary’s Gardens in the Inner Circle.
