Most of the roads around SE16 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in SE16 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller SE16 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and SE16 flat moving.
A Little Bit About SE16
The SE postcode district was originally created as part of the London Postal District in 1857. In 1868 some of the areas of the abolished S district were added The postal district of SE16 covers Rotherhithe, part of Bermondsey and Surrey Quays. The local authorities covering these areas is Lewisham and Southwark.
Bermondsey is home to the Design Museum, which opened in 1989. Also the Fashion and Textile Museum. There are some very interesting antiques markets in Bermondsey.
Bermondsey has great travels link to the city and is only a hop, skip and a jump and you are spoilt for choice on fantastic restaurants.
Rotherhithe has a long history as a port, with many shipyards from Elizabethan times until the early 20th century and with working docks until the 1970s. In the 1980s the area along the river was redeveloped as upmarket housing, through a mix of warehouse conversions and new-build developments. Following the arrival of the Jubilee line in 1999 (giving quick connections to the West End and to Canary Wharf) and the London Overground in 2010 (providing a quick route to the City of London), the rest of Rotherhithe is now a rapidly gentrifying residential and commuter area, with current regeneration progressing most quickly around Canada Water, where a new town centre with restaurant and retail units as well as new residential developments is emerging around the existing freshwater lake and transport hub.
