Parking SE22

Most of the roads around SE22 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in SE22 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller SE22 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and SE22 flat moving.

A Little Bit About SE22

The SE postcode district was originally created as part of the London Postal District in 1857. In 1868 some of the areas of the abolished S district were added. The postal district of SE22 covers East Dulwich, Peckham Rye, Loughborough Junction and Herne Hill. The local authority covering these areas is Southwark.

Herne Hill had regular horse drawn tram services in 1884. The early 1900’s saw the new electric double-decker trams when the London County Council took over the service, but due to the low bridge over Hinton Road and narrow road at Milkwood Road the route was changed. Then in 1930 the trams were phased out in favour of buses. Today Herne Hill is a very desirable area to live and has a lively, vibrant and diverse community. There are a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants, parks and open spaces and it has its own Lido. Brockwell Park is a great park and has a list of events on their site.

‘Peckham’ is a Saxon place name meaning the village of the River Peck, a small stream that ran through the district until it was enclosed in 1823. Archaeological evidence indicates earlier Roman occupation in the area, although the name of this settlement is lost. Peckham appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Pecheham. It was held by the Bishop of Lisieux from the Bishop of Bayeux. Its Domesday assets were: 2 hides. It had land for 1 plough, 2 acres (8,100 m2) of meadow. It rendered £1 10s 0d (£1.50).
