Parking SW12

Most of the roads around SW12 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in SW12 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller SW12 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and SW12 flat moving.

A Little Bit About SW12

The SW postcode district was originally created as part of the London Postal District in 1857. In 1868 some of the areas of the abolished S district were added. The postal district of SW12 covers Balham, Clapham South and Hyde Farm. The local authorities covering these areas are Wandsworth and Lambeth.

Balham named in the Domesday book as Belgeham. The meaning ‘Bal’ a rounded enclosure and ‘ham’ to a homestead, village or river enclosure, of which is has been since Saxon times. Placed in the SW12 postcode, Balham is situated between four south London commons: Clapham Common to the north, Wandsworth Common to the west, Tooting Graveney Common to the south, and the adjoining Tooting Bec Common to the east. With bars, restaurants and farmer’s markets there is something for everyone. Balham is popular with families and offers the opportunity for excellent schools, including Holy Ghost, Aldebrook Primary and Henry Cavendish, also Balham has the second lowest council tax rates in London.

The Hyde Farm Estate was developed between 1896 and 1916. Prior to development starting, the historic field boundary with Tooting Common was realigned. The narrow strip of the common to the east of Cavendish Road was enclosed and the line of Emmanuel Road (formerly Bleak Hall Lane) was moved north to provide a compensating wider portion of common land to the north of the railway line between Streatham Hill and Balham (now known as Emmanuel Field).
