During the 1880s, Ealing proclaimed itself as the ‘Queen of the Suburbs’.
There has been a church on this site in South Ealing since medieval times, although the current building is anything but medieval. That older church was ruined beyond repair by Cromwell’s troops during the Civil War, and later pulled down in the late 1720’s.
South Ealing is in the London Borough of Ealing and sits between the large green expanse of Gunnersbury Park to the East and Lammas Park to the West. The area is centred around South Ealing Road and this provides an array of shops, restaurants and other amenities. The area is well served by parks and leisure facilities. Lammas Park is a 25-acre formal park that offers recreation facilities for local residents including tennis courts, a bowling green and a playground. A short distance away is Gunnersbury Park, which is recognised by English Heritage and includes the Gunnersbury Park Museum.
