Parking SE24

Most of the roads around SE24 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in SE24 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller SE24 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and SE24 flat moving.

A Little Bit About SE24

The SE postcode district was originally created as part of the London Postal District in 1857. In 1868 some of the areas of the abolished S district were added. The postal district of SE24 covers Herne Hill and part of Tulse Hill. The local authorities covering these areas are Southwark and Lambeth.

An 1832 map shows that Tulse Hill still had only a few buildings on the new roads in contrast to nearby recently developed areas in Brixton and Norwood. However, by 1843, there was a continuous line of houses, predominantly detached and usually with separate coach houses along the full length of Lower Tulse Hill Road from Brixton to the top of the hill. Development of the area to the east of this road commenced in 1845 when Trinity Rise was built to connect Upper Tulse Hill with Norwood Road. Holy Trinity Church on Trinity Rise was built in 1855-6 and is now grade II listed. Major development of the area further east did not come until the opening of Tulse Hill railway station in 1868. Most of the original villas with large gardens on the original Edwards-Cressingham landholding have been redeveloped at much higher densities for council housing since the 1930s.

Today Herne Hill is a very desirable area to live and has a lively, vibrant and diverse community. There are a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants, parks and open spaces and it has its own Lido. Brockwell Park is a great park and has a list of events on their site. There is no underground station, but there are excellent transport links, with bus and rail connections to central London (10 min to Victoria, for example), the City and the West End, as well as south to Croydon, Bromley and Wimbledon. The Victoria Line station at Brixton is only a short distance away.
