Parking W6
Most of the roads around W6 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in W6 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller W6 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and W6 flat moving.
A Little Bit About W6
The W postcode area is a group of postcode districts covering part of central and part of west London. The postal district of W6 covers Hammersmith and Ravenscourt Park. The local authorities covering these areas are Hounslow and Hammersmith and Fulham.
The name Hammersmith dates back to 1294, and the area has something of a rich history. Its more notable historical residents include William Morris, father of the Arts and Crafts movement and the composer Elgar. In the early 1660s, Hammersmith’s first parish church, which later became St Paul’s, was built by Sir Nicholas Crispe who ran the brickworks in Hammersmith. It contained a monument to Crispe as well as a bronze bust of King Charles I by Hubert LeSueur. In 1696 Sir Samuel Morland was buried there. The church was completely rebuilt in 1883, but the monument and bust were transferred to the new church.
The origins of Ravenscourt Park lie in the medieval manor and estate of Palingswick (or Paddenswick) Manor, located on the site and first recorded in the 12th century. The historic name still exists today in the name of Paddenswick Road, which runs along the northeast boundary of the park. Ravenscourt Park is an 8.3 hectare public park and garden located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is one of the Borough’s flagship parks, having won a Green Flag Award.
